Our first step is to let the old seat sit in the sun for a while, softening up the material. Also, lay out your new covers in the sun- you want these real flexible.

Next remove the hog rings... while you are doing that, make note how the material is attached -- so you can do a similar job with the new material and hog rings.

Here, we have removed all the hog rings, and removed the foam padding. We are keeping the jute and the foam because these are in good shape.

After wire brushing the entire frame, removing all the rust, we paint the frame with a rust proof paint. you can use POR15, SEM, or any brand that gives you a good protective coating.

Carefully attach the foam and stretch the new cover over and attach with hog ring pliers.  You will need to “work” the material, stretching and clamping as you go....

Check and make sure the seams and patterns in your cover are aligned correcly as you clamp them down.  Once the material cools off it will be a very tight fit.

Ahhh, much nicer!

Now for the seat back....    same process, evaluate the contition and placement of your originals....

Remove the old hog rings, and make note of how they are used....

After wire brushing ( a rotary wire wheel make the job easier...) the painting phase . . .

Same process here, carefully attach the padding and cover... try to attach hog rings in the original locations, but adjust as necessary making sure your patterns line up correctly....

Install seats and enjoy the nice feel of your new material!
